Life Goes On: June

I love June. It has always been my favorite for a number of reasons. My birthday, usually the end of a school year, the start of summer... this month brings back a lifetime of poolside memories, complete with opening presents. Who doesn't love opening presents?

Unfortunately, my grandfather Stephen Oveson passed away this June. I still love June, but this has been a rough one. We drove to Utah three weekends in a row. The first was Memorial Day weekend, the next weekend I returned to get Casey and we were able to be with my family the day that Papa died, and the third and final weekend was the funeral.

The viewing was on Casey's birthday; at the end of the night he apologetically announced, "I'm really sorry guys; next year I'll have my birthday somewhere else." I'm glad he's always able to lighten the mood. He keeps me in check.

the Birthdays are over!

Who knew? Time flies when you're trying really hard not to turn 25.

Fortunately, this guy (see below) worked really hard to make sure I had a blast even though his initial plans fell through.

We look like we're having too much fun. :)

I started off the day with Lemon Poppyseed Pancakes:

And came home to these:

My husband is just wonderful. We had an awesome day and a great night and on Saturday we went to Ruby River and the Real Salt Lake game vs DC United. It ended a draw, but it was still tons of fun. I think the next game we're gonna go to is gonna be on July 4. Best way to celebrate independence day that I can think of. :)

And oh, the food!

Then Father's Day we hung out at my parent's house, my Dad spoke in church and then there were tri-tip and movies. Yum. All in all, good birthday weekend. See?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I think the best part of mine and Casey's birthdays being so close is that I get all excited setting up for Casey's birthday and then the excitement just kind of extends over to mine. At least, I hope the excitement buoys me until my birthday.

Casey's birthday (today!) was a lot of fun even though he had to go to work a little before 1. I woke up before he did (which is unheard of) and put together all the stuff I got for him, resulting in one (1) awesome Zombie Apocalypse Survival Kit, complete with multi-tool, first-aid, reading material, some food, and all of that stuffed into a Camelbak. I didn't take a picture of it.

I did, however, take a picture of our Swedish Pancake Picnic right before he went to work.

Swedish Pancakes!

The fruit! Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and mangoes.

My happy 26 year old hubby :)

We're just the best, aren't we? (Don't tell anyone else)

All I can do now is sit here and think about how lucky I am, even with Casey off at work, I'm so lucky I have a wonderful husband who loves me and only wants to support me. I'm lucky to share a last name with him, I'm lucky to share anything with him.

Happy happy birthday again and again to my wonderful, amazing, fun, adorable, witty, intelligent, hard-working, loving, sweet, happy husband.
