As you can imagine after seeing the results from last night's Oscars, I'm a little distraught. Ugh. The King's Speech shouldn't have won Best Picture, Colin Firth shouldn't have won Best Actor, and while maybe Melissa Leo shouldn't have won Best Supporting Actress, the first F-bomb in Oscar history was pretty epic. Especially when Christian Bale got up for Best Supporting Actor and promised not to say the F word too.
Fortunately, there are some things you can always count on from famous people. Helena Bonham Carter and Tim Burton looked crazy, James Franco and Anne Hathaway cross-dressed, Hugh Jackman looked hot, and a bunch of people used more time than they had for their speeches and got music'd out.
I can't really think of anything else to say Oscar-related.
Life is good. I quit my job, and I'm officially the nanny to my two youngest 1st cousins on either side, Olivia and Dante. They are a total crack up. Today Olivia got up from her nap while I was watching Family Feud, and I got to explain the rules to her. By the triple score, Olivia was shouting out her own answers. My favorite was her response to "What should a woman change after a divorce?" Olivia's resounding answer was "Her beautiful dress!!"
Good times with the crazy kids.
Random, Danny Elfman wrote the theme for Desperate Housewives. I definitely don't know that because I'm watching the 3rd episode in a row right now. I like Danny Elfman.

another successful weekend
I have to apologize first off, because I have been incredibly lazy for the past few days. Right after my last post, I thought of like 50 things I could blog about, but then I thought, "Oh, well I just barely posted. I'll write later!"
So here I am, 4 very jam-packed days later.
Since my last post, my "big little brother" as I call him (I used to call him baby brother, but it's hard to say "baby" to a 6'5" beast of a brother. Especially when you found out recently that the doctor says his growth plates are still open... we'll see how tall that sucker gets) took 1st in the regional wrestling tournament for the 215 lb weight class. Woo! It was a pretty intense match, and Lars was also awarded the outstanding heavy weight wrestler of the tournament. :)
Friday I knew I'd be bored at home so I went north with Casey and spent the day at my parents' house. It's nice how I only really watch TV when I'm in Draper. We watched 30 Rock, Community, and a few other things. If nothing else, I was terribly entertained.
Saturday we were gonna wake up early and check out the Carl Bloch exhibit and maybe do other stuff too, but Casey woke up nice and early for a soccer game and then crawled back into bed and let me sleep like a baby until 11:15, just enough time to whine a bit and go to work. Work is getting progressively harder to deal with. A year and a half of dealing with the same people, same crap, same menu, and same weirdness is starting to get to me.
Superbowl Sunday!

I was a little disappointed that the Packers won, mainly because that meant Casey won bragging rights, but he proved to just be a good husband some more once we got back home afterwards. I kinda had a headache by the time we got home and he got me some IB profen and a drink of water and read some scriptures to me before snuggling me into a nice nighttime coma. My husband is the best.
I'm not very entertaining right now. This was more informational than entertaining at all. Maybe I'll think of entertaining things later.

fantastic weekend
So here I am, watching Lost, as per usual. The weekend is tragically over, Casey is at work and I'm dreading getting back to the grind in a couple of hours.
This weekend was wonderful! Our second awesome weekend in a row. Unfortunately I had to work Saturday day shift, which was a little crazy with the BYU basketball game and I got stuck there until about 5:15ish, which stank because Casey and I had an awesome night planned. He picked me up, we booked it home, I changed, and we went to Fat Cats for part I of our awesome night. There, we met Swan, his girlfriend, SamSam, Brett and Allan for bowling (Casey and I had never been bowling together, practically blasphemy in Provo, I know). Turns out my husband is a really good bowler. Like, for reals. Everyone else had to bowl for 2nd because he blew us all out of the water. It was SO much fun. :) After two games and Cory and Katy showed up to watch, we all went to me and Casey's apartment for Beatles Rock Band, Papa Murphy's pizza and some root beer. All in all we wound up having 14 people in our very tiny front room once Heather, Curtis, Clark, Natalia and JB all joined us. It was kind of awesome.
Sunday we rolled out of bed just in time to show up late to church and stay half awake through the three hours. I was hoping for a nap, but between Casey's home teaching, my visiting teaching, a walk, a quick visit to Grammie and Papa's to see Olivia, and mother-in-law Tauna here for dinner, I didn't get my nap until 7 or so. Then my parents and Maddy and Lars came over for a few minutes. All in all, a fairly busy day.
Seems like kind of a short post for such a fun weekend, but I'm distracted at the moment. Gotta get ready for stupid work soon anyway.

Lost and Found
I've been watching Lost. I told myself I wouldn't start watching it until after the series finale, and now that it's been over for a bit, I'm up to season 2. All of the questions and crap... I'm glad I don't have to wait days or worse WEEKS between episodes.

(collegehumor has the right idea about it)
Today we helped our friend Cory with some shopping stuff (he's all carless and whatnot), and afterwards the three of us plopped down in one of my favorite places.... smashburger! I had a "Sin City" smashburger (without the bacon, and pepperjack cheese instead of the cheddar). Something about a friend egg on a delicious burger with a side of smashfries is just downright fantastic. (Mmmmmm... smashfries...) Well, when the girl brought me my burger, she said, "I'm so sorry! We don't have any haystack onions right now, so here's something to make up for it." And she gave my a coupon! On the back it says "OopsCard." Haha! I get a free smashburger next time we go eat there. Huzzah! I'm on a streak in terms of eating out. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that when we went to P.F. Chang's I got TWO fortunes in my cookie! And Casey's said something about how well he does in computers (too true). Plus the waiter gave us three cookies, so we opened the last one together. Four fortunes in one meal... not too shabby!
Good times.
So, for the record, marriage is my favorite thing ever. And I found this awesome quote today.
Even back then, some people just had the right idea. No one ever told me that marriage was so GREAT. Okay, maybe they did, but I think they were severely lacking in the proper stress of the greatness of it.

"There is no greater risk than matrimony.
But there is nothing happier than a happy marriage."
